AUDIO VISUAL COMMITTEE: Works with staff to provide the audio visual capabilities we need to run a high-quality Sunday service (in the Sanctuary and online), as well as to support hybrid meetings and special events.
BELL CHOIR: Periodically rings in church service, presents an annual Christmas concert, and performs in the area. Rehearses weekly Thursday afternoons. Welcomes new members. No experience needed, an ability to read music is preferable.
CARE COMMITTEE: Provides care to those seeking comfort or connection during times of illness, major life transitions, or not being able to get to church. This can include cooking meals, sending cards, or visiting those in need, as you are able.
CHOIR: Infuses choral inspiration into each Sunday church service. Rehearsals are Thursday evenings 7-9 PM and Sundays 9-10 AM. Welcomes new members.
COMMUNITY GARDEN: Creates a nurturing space for growing nutritious food and making connections to one other and the living earth and provides fresh produce for local food pantries.
FACILITIES COMMITTEE: Identifies and manages space needs, capital improvements and larger maintenance.
FLOWER COMMITTEE: Provides Altar flowers each Sunday. Flowers are given and paid for by a parishioner to celebrate an occasion or in memory of someone special. Flowers can be arranged by a member of the committee or by a local florist.
GENEROUS GIVING: Generous Giving Committee is responsible for designing the plans and executing the processes needed to ensure that financial support from the congregation is available to provide for the operation and mission of First Parish.
GREEN: Coordinates the congregation’s commitment to “cherish the living earth” with a focus on activities addressing climate change/environment – promoting the switch to renewable energy.
HOSPITALITY: Provides light refreshments for the “Coffee Hour” after church each Sunday. A two person Team commits to one Sunday each month (September-June). “Extras” are frequently needed to provide extra cookies or help with holidays!
INFORMATION TECHNOLOGY COMMITTEE: Works with the staff to ensure that we have the software that we need to keep our church running smoothly, and that our data and documents are both accessible and secure.
MUSIC COMMITTEE: Works with Music Director to support our music program including concerts and other choir-related events.
OUTREACH/SOCIAL ACTION : Coordinates and allocates funds and faith-in-action programs. Welcomes volunteers for one-time and long-term commitments to local projects.
PERSONNEL: Assists the Parish Committee and Minister with employee related matters, maintains and fulfills the personnel policies, is appointed by the Parish Committee.
RACIAL JUSTICE ADVOCATES: Facilitates conversations and actions that promote racial justice in our congregation and our wider communities.
SMALL GROUPS: Meet monthly to deepen and expand the personal connections and ministry of the congregation. These lay led groups welcome new members when there are openings, and new groups can be formed at any time.
TOUCH OF CHRISTMAS FAIR/MAY MARKET: Both of these beloved traditions need all hands on deck to make them happen. If you are willing to help in some way please join us. It is a great way to meet others in the community.
USHERING: Greets parishioners entering for Sunday service. Four ushers are needed each Sunday. Please consider ushering at least once this year. If you are new we will pair you with a seasoned usher. Let us know if you have a preferred month.
WELCOMING: Reaches out to new members, helps them integrate into the community and provides social events. Join to help meet and greet new First Parish members!
YOUTH PROGRAMS: Welcomes people to invest their time in our young people. We need teachers of any age/experience. We also need Boosters for our special events like Advent Workshop, Xmas Pageant, teacher appreciation brunch and Celebration Sunday.
WORKER BEES: Respond to last minute calls for help. If you cannot commit to anything long term right now but would love to be called for a one-time task when help is needed, please let us know!
